ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Deborah Small and I am a Qualified Veterinary Nurse. I’m originally from Hastings in south-east England and grew up spending weekends on my Grandparents’ farm in nearby Crowhurst. It was here that my love of animals began.
As a teenager I volunteered at the local wildlife RSPCA centre. I really enjoyed the work and knew that I wanted to follow a career working with animals. After school I studied for a BSc in Animal Science at Reading University. After attaining my degree I returned to the RSPCA working in a re-homing centre. This was followed by two years working for an aquarium. It was then that I decided that Veterinary Nursing was the direction that I wanted to go in. Having completed several years of employment based training, I qualified in 2004 and was immediately promoted to head nurse. I moved to London in 2006 and have worked at a Kensington based Veterinary Clinic ever since.
Over the years there have been an increasing number of requests from cat owners looking for a reliable person to care for their pet, and in some cases their home, whilst they are on holiday or away on business. Initially most engagements came from the vet surgery’s clients, but many people now refer their friends to me as well. Increasingly I have found myself enjoying cat sitting more than nursing. It is very rewarding to build relationships with the cats I care for and the owners I work for.
During 2010 I found there was demand for cat sitting services all year round, so decided to take the plunge, go part time at the Vets and set up my own business. The business formally began in December 2010 and it was the best decision I have ever made.

Kensington Cats was officially registered as a company in December 2010. For eight years I solely owned and ran the business, building a loyal client base.
In October 2018, due to increasing demand and to allow me to spend more time with family, I took on two, carefully selected, cat sitters.
In keeping the team small it allows us to maintain a good relationship with the cats we look after, and their owners, it also ensures a consistently high level of care and reliability.
Tracy
I have worked along side Tracy for many years, so she was a great choice, as many of my clients already knew her, she has been cat sitting for over 10 years, is very experienced and 100% trustworthy. Artemis
Mischa
'The first time Deb looked after our cat in 2015 she was suffering from pancreatitis and Deb was amazing at looking after her, administering her medication and keeping me updated every step of the way. Our cat is quite shy and she automatically warmed up to Deb which made our trip so much more comfortable and stress free. I have been using Deb ever since and will continue to do so! If you want to ensure your pet is looked after and loved while you are away I wouldn't look any further than Kensington cats. Thank you Deb!'
